All are available in a variety of finishes in oak and/or maple wood species. With all the options offered with our kid's chairs, there is a perfect combination to fit public environments frequented by children. Collegian offers several sizes for children of all ages. Available in all wood or with an upholstered seat. Collegian is available in oak wood with any of our 14 finishes. Specifications: Wood: All wood parts are constructed from select American red oak. All lumber is thoroughly air seasoned before kiln drying to a moisture content of 6% or less. The lumber is allowed to temper before milling. All parts selected for steam bending are partially air seasoned before bending, then kiln dried to a moisture content of 6% or less. Details of Construction: The #753 seat is made from 1 ј” lumber; the #1192, 1194, 1206 & 1218 seats are made from 1” lumber. All seat joints are fabricated from a glued up panel, held together with a high grade of glue, and double saddled and rounded for maximum comfort and style. The back posts are steam bent and made from 1” lumber (except #753). The front legs are well-rounded and tapered. The top horizontal back on the #753 and the two top slats on the #1192, 1194, 1206, and 1218 are steam bent and all edges are well rounded. The top slats on all chairs are 1 ј” solid lumber. The seat rails use a mortise and tennon assembly to attach into front and back posts. All chairs are reinforced with four corner blocks which are glued and screwed to the seat rails. For extra stability and strength, a 3” screw is placed through the center of each corner block and into each adjoining leg. The stretchers (five on #753/ four on #1192, 1194, 1206 & 1218) are made from 1” lumber and are chucked and glued securely into the frame. All corners and edges of the chairs are wellrounded. Finish: Each chair has an even coat of a no-wipe stain, followed by a coat of sealer. A light sanding is given and then oven dried for 30 minutes. Another coat of catalyzed sealer is applied and oven dried for another 30 minutes. Another light sanding process is performed to assure a smooth finish. Then the product is sprayed with a 45 sheen catalyzed lacquer and oven dried for an additional 30 minutes. Then there is a 30 minute cool down period before final inspection. Hardware: Each chair is equipped standard with rubber cushion nickel plated glides. Upholstery: The upholstered back (#753 only) consists of a 1” polyurethane padding. The upholstered seats consist of a 1 Ѕ” polyurethane padding. All upholstery materials pass the California Fire Retardant Code, Class 1, Commercial Standard 191-53, Technical Bulletin #117.
