All lumber is thoroughly air seasoned before kiln drying to a moisture content of 6% or less. The lumber is then allowed to temper before milling. Parts that are selected for steam bending are partially air seasoned before bending, then kiln dried to a moisture content of less than 6% after bending. Details of Construction: The seat is made solid wood and is glued together with a high grade of glue and double saddled for maximum comfort and style. The back consists of a solid wood panel which is steam bent for maximum comfort and style. The seats and back are easily removed. All joints are connected together with mortise and tennon and glue. All rails, arms, front posts, back posts, stretchers, and rocker sled runners are made from 1 ј” lumber. For additional strength, the rails are secured by a corner block, glue, and screws at each joint. The solid wood back is screwed to the chair frame through the back posts. Wood Finish: Each chair has an even coat of a no-wipe stain, followed by a coat of sealer. A light sanding is given and then oven dried for 30 minutes. Another coat of catalyzed sealer is applied and oven dried for another 30 minutes. Another light sanding process is performed to assure a smooth finish. Then the product is sprayed with a 45 sheen catalyzed lacquer and oven dried for an additional 30 minutes. Then there is a 30 minute cool down period before final inspection. Hardware: Each chair is equipped standard with nickel plated tap in glides. Upholstery: Each seat is upholstered with 1 Ѕ” high density polyurethane in a pneumatic press to assure consistency in thickness and comfort. All upholstery materials pass the California Fire Retardant Code, Class 1, Commercial Standard 191-53, Technical Bulletin #117.
