Americana II
An extension of the popular Americana series, the additional accents for the Americana II collection will enhance any setting. The circle cutout option and the contoured seat give this series comfort and style.
Specifications:
Wood: All parts are constructed from select hardwoods. All lumber is thoroughly air seasoned before kiln drying to a
moisture content of 6% or less. The lumber is the allowed to temper before milling. All parts selected for steam
bending are partially air seasoned before bending then kiln dried to a moisture content less than 6% after bending.
Details of Construction: The seat is made from 1 ј” lumber. Seat joints are held together with a grade of glue and the seat is
double saddled and rounded in front for maximum comfort and style. Slats, arms and arm posts are made
from solid wood construction joined together with glue, screws, and mortise and tennon. The top cross
back is from 1” lumber; steam bent and rounded on the front edge. The lower cross back is steam bent from
1” lumber and attached to the back posts with mortise and tennon. The vertical form-fitting slats are
finished 1” x ” and mortised into the top and the bottom cross backs. The arms are made from 1 ј”
lumber and are attached at the back posts with screws concealed with wood buttons. The arm posts are
made from 1 Ѕ” lumber and are mortise and tennoned to the arms and attached to the seat rails by two #12
screws in the seat and concealed with wood buttons. The front posts are made from 2” lumber, tapered
from the seat rail to the floor. The back posts are steam bent and are from 1 ј” lumber. The stretcher
support rails tennoned and glued to the legs and reinforced by a through the underside of each rail into the
adjoining leg. The stretchers on the additional models are of H-type construction, consisting of two side
stretchers and one cross stretcher from 1” lumber. This assembly is chucked and glued to the front and
back posts. One extra stretcher from 1” lumber is chucked and glued to the back post several inches below
the back seat rail. The models without arms have steam bent side braces that are glued and screwed to the
seat and back posts for added strength. The frame is further reinforced with corner blocks which are glued
and screwed to the seat rails. For extra stability and strength a 3” screw is placed through the center of
each adjoining leg. All corners and edges of the chair are rounded.
Finish: Each chair has an even coat of a no-wipe stain, followed by a coat of sealer. A light sanding is given and
then oven dried for 30 minutes. Another coat of catalyzed sealer is applied and oven dried for another 30 minutes.
Another light sanding process is performed to assure a smooth finish. Then the product is sprayed with a 45 sheen
catalyzed lacquer and oven dried for an additional 30 minutes. Then there is a 30 minute cool down period before
final inspection.
Upholstery: Each seat is upholstered with 1” high density polyurethane to assure consistency in thickness and comfort. All
upholstery materials pass the California Fire Retardant Code, Class 1, Commercial Standard 191-53, and Technical
Bulletin #117.
